This is a really exciting time to be joining DMU. The People Services team has been through a period of change and we have several roles available to support the advancement of our ambitious Empowering University strategy. Being part of a thriving and energetic team, you would join our new directorate and help us to deliver a key pillar of our university strategy, ‘Empowering People’. Our role is to enhance our employee offer in relation to leadership and management, reward and recognition, voice and experience, health and wellbeing, and to ensure our polices, processes and systems enable digital solutions, swift decision making, equal access and autonomy. People Services has a rich portfolio including people partnering, policy and employee relations, wellbeing, international, pay and reward, operations and support hub, as well as talent, learning and organisational development.
Role
As a People Partner, you will work as a strategic partner with leaders across the institution facilitating innovative solutions to organisational challenges. You will provide HR leadership to business leaders for designated change programmes, leading on the engagement with trade unions and supporting the development of strategic and operational plans. You will guide and coach leaders to deliver effective transformational change, applying change and organisational development models as appropriate. You will also provide additional people partnering support across different areas of the university.
You will be an expert and trusted advisor on both people challenges and business decisions providing advice that balances the employee experience, legal compliance and commerciality alongside balancing risk and reward. You will commission customer solutions through collaboration within People Services and more widely across the institution.
Please Note: This contract will require a January start, and will terminate end of December 2025, with a hybrid working model of 2-3 days onsite per week.
Ideal Candidate
As a successful People Partner, you will be a graduate level with CIPD or have an equivalent level of HR experience. You will be a strong HR generalist, with experience of adding value to the business by developing pragmatic, customer focussed people management solutions. You will have experience in supporting organisations with business planning. With a comprehensive and up to date knowledge of Employment Relations legislation you will have the ability to translate this into practical, safe and commercial advice. You will be used to working autonomously, but also part of a wider team.
You will have experience in delivering corporate projects through to implementation, including leading on organisational change and transformation programmes and be able to apply organisational development methodologies to support customer diagnoses and resolve organisational challenges.
With knowledge of working in a Partnering model, you will have the ability to commission work across the organisation. The ability to demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills to create positive networks, and have a track record of influencing and coaching managers to meet with the needs of the organisation is essential. You will have excellent communication skills the command credibility and confidence and have a proven ability to analyse and interpret data to inform decision making. Having good digital literacy skills, you will have the ability to produce accurate written reports and documentation.
