Location: Hatfield Business Park 

The University of Hertfordshire Finance Department is a team of around 70 staff that supports Academic and Professional business units across the University Group, and to provide and maintain information effectively, there is a need to continually develop the systems that are involved in this process. The size and shape of the University has changed over the years necessitating a greater level of system development to cope with additional complexity and requirements that have now evolved. The Assistant Finance Data Analyst will be involved in supporting this ongoing development process. 

Main duties and responsibilities

The Assistant Finance Data Analyst role will support in all aspects of financial data production and analysis, helping to ensure that the information provided to end users is complete and accurate, and also assisting with development of the systems producing the data. 

Skills and experience required

The key skills that the Assistant Finance Data Analyst needs are centred around the being numerate with the ability to process and present large volumes of complex data, necessitating advanced MS Excel skills with a good working knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications, and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. A knowledge of accounting (up to trial balance) and other key financial process is also needed to enable data to be prepared and interpreted in the right context. You must be able to work accurately under pressure to tight deadlines and manage conflicting priorities whilst working with minimum supervision, dealing with sensitive material with strict confidentiality.

As an Assistant Finance Data Analyst you will have an interest in and experience of varied problem solving, be flexible and adaptable to team and workload requirements and be effective within a team setting.

Qualifications required

The Assistant Finance Data Analyst needs to be educated with A Level minimum grade C (or equivalent) with minimum GCSE grade C in both English and Math.

Education with degree level (in particular in Accounting or Computer Science) and AAT level qualifications is desirable.
