About StoryArcs

StoryArcs is an AHRC-funded initiative that leverages ‘Story Skills’ to inspire cultural dialogue and social impact. As a Story Fellow, you’ll be part of an international network dedicated to applying storytelling to address creative challenges and complex societal issues. Through placements with leading organisations, you’ll refine your narrative craft, develop strategies for leadership, and make a real difference in fields such as the arts, health, and community engagement.

Role as a Story Fellow

As a Story Fellow, you’ll lead transformative projects, working alongside Host organisations to address contemporary issues using the art of Story. You’ll gain hands-on experience, applying your Story Skills across disciplines – from strategic narrative planning to community engagement. Your work will help shape a more empathetic and connected world, cultivating your leadership potential along the way. The role also provides structured mentorship, supporting your development as an impactful storyteller.

About the Nottingham Projects:

StoryArcs offers three exciting opportunities, each aimed at inspiring cultural participation, engaging critically with history, and fostering proactive learning through storytelling:

Nottingham City of Literature
As Nottingham City of Literature (NUCoL) celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025, we are seeking an Early Career Story Fellow to gather and share stories that reflect NUCoL’s local and international impact, contributing to its vision for the future.

Nottingham Castle
Nottingham Castle is seeking a creative practitioner to sensitively reinterpret artworks and objects with complex histories, encouraging deeper engagement with our rich cultural heritage.

Boots UK
Boots UK is capturing stories from the COVID-19 pandemic to inspire change and provide valuable lessons for the future. Join us in documenting these vital narratives.

Platform for Growth

A key component of StoryArcs is the Deep Story Leadership Platform, which we have set up to support early career professionals in developing their Story Skills through impactful, real-world projects. Graduates will receive the StoryArcs Award, a testament to their contributions and commitment to impactful storytelling.
