The University of St Andrews Business School invites applications for the position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Strategy. The successful candidate will join the Business School at an exciting time. The newly launched School is the largest in the University, building on the University's rich heritage and the legacy of the leading Schools of Economics and Finance and Management, whose merger created it. Its mission is to develop globally-minded leaders with the ambition, knowledge and skills to create a more prosperous and sustainable world. Within the University of St Andrews Business School, Business and Management ranked first of all UK institutions in The Guardian University Guide 2025 for the second year running. The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025, also named St Andrews Scottish University of the Year 2025 and University of the Year for Student Experience 2025.
The successful candidate will be a Strategy scholar with an international research reputation who can contribute to the School's world-leading and interdisciplinary research agenda, addressing themes such as sustainability, innovation and leadership in a complex geopolitical landscape. They will be successful in publishing research, attracting research funding or other financial support and promoting knowledge exchange to strengthen the School's reputation for academic excellence. They must also be an excellent teacher, capable of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students from diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate will also actively engage in purposeful partnerships with academic, public, private and third-sector organisations to drive impactful research and enhance the student experience. An understanding of scenario planning and futures thinking is desirable but not essential.
Candidates will hold a PhD in a cognate discipline. The School will consider applications from candidates who have submitted their PhD thesis at the time of application and have the viva scheduled to take place before the role start date. *Appointment at Grade 8 Senior Lecturer (salary range: £58,596 - £65,814 per annum) will be considered for candidates with more experience/knowledge of the area, with the job description to be amended accordingly.
