We have an exciting opportunity for a highly qualified/experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join as a core member of the managerial team on a partner track at Concrete4Change.

Remuneration: Competitive - Your salary can be up to 20% more than your current salary based on your skill set and suitability

Start date and end date (approx): This is a permanent position and is available for immediate start. (Flexible on start date based on notice period)

Job description:

As the Senior Researcher Civil Engineer, you are a self-starter who can develop new technology areas that leverage existing capabilities and expertise, including CO2 adsorption. You will plan, procure and manage the concrete laboratory in line with regulations. You will be working with construction engineers and chemists to utilise the cement and concrete knowledge for carbon capture and utilisation in concrete and evaluation of CCU techniques on the properties and long-term performance of cement-based materials

Essential:

  • A significant research profile, evidenced by high-quality refereed publications and a significant track record in a technical subject area compatible with existing capabilities and of interest to the department.
  • Experience in laboratory setup, HSE requirements, experience in equipment specification development and procurement
  • Understanding carbonation and characterisation of mechanisms, and critical assessment of CO2 uptake and concrete performance over various life stages (product, use and end-of-life)
  • Understanding design for concrete structures according to British standards and Eurocode 2
  • R&D experience in developing low-carbon concrete 

Desirable:

  • PI or co-PI on academic research projects or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Experienced in developing proposal/bid writing.
  • Experienced in carbon capture utilisation and storage
  • Experienced in the mineralisation of CO2 for various applications.
