The Role

As a Lecturer in Quantity Surveying, you will be integral to delivering high-quality education & driving forward research in quantity surveying and commercial management. Your expertise in pre/post-contract cost management, aligned with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) standards, will be crucial in educating future Professional Quantity Surveyors (PQS) and Contractor Quantity Surveyors (CQS), as well as advancing our research endeavours.

You will be responsible for teaching cost planning, commercial management, and the quantification of construction works in accordance with the RICS New Rules of Measurement (NRM) and other relevant standards. Your role will also involve utilizing digital tools, overseeing contract practice & administration, and covering project finance, feasibility, and risk management.

The Person

We seek a candidate with extensive knowledge of quantity surveying in line with RICS standards. You will join a department with over 30 esteemed academics, recognized as a leader in higher education due to its cutting-edge labs and research facilities. Essential Criteria (Qualifications)

  • Good Honours Degree in relevant subject discipline or equivalent
  • Fellowship of the Advanced HE (HEA) or willingness to work towards
  • PhD (or submitted and awaiting examination) or equivalence accepted in a relevant subject area, for example by publication or through appropriate professional achievement or willingness to work towards within an agreed timeframe
  • Subject specific qualifications / knowledge
  • Membership of a related professional body, e.g. CIOB and RICS
