Senior Lecturer (UH8): £45,163 pa with potential to progress to £56,921 pa by annual increments

Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year 

Main duties and responsibilities

The successful candidate will undertake teaching and assessment in engineering and technology modules, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Duties involve supporting learning through design and development of course materials including online content and undertaking necessary tutorial, laboratory, and administrative activities.

For the role of Senior Lecturer, it is expected that the successful candidate will undertake an administrative role in the school assisting with programme management, or other similar duties, provide leadership in an aspect of research or commercial activities and undertake other duties within the framework of the post as delegated by the Head of Department or Head of Subject Group. 

Skills and experience required

You must have experience within one or more of the following areas within Civil Engineering; Geomatics and Land surveying, Engineering geology, Civil engineering and Structural design or Sustainable engineering, either within Higher Education or in the construction sector. You must have a track record of relevant to the post research Q1 journal publications and/or industrial experience. In addition to this, proven experience of teaching or tutoring at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level will be required. You must have a strong commitment to teaching, learning and student support at university level and sufficient expertise and experience to be able to contribute to the teaching of the advertised areas. You will have demonstrable proficiency in English Language, with excellent oral and written communication skills and a strong desire to motivate and engage student in the subject area.

For the role of Senior Lecturer, substantial experience of working in the domain of Civil Engineering will be required in addition to a strong track record of research publications in Q1 journals and/or industrial experience and evidence of securing external funding. As well as substantial proven experience delivering teaching, tutoring, learning and student support at University level and demonstrable experience to contribute to the schools teaching and research. You will have experience securing external funding and knowledge to be able to contribute to the School's research strategic plan.

Qualifications required

Lecturer - educated with a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related subject area or equivalent level 6 qualification.

Senior Lecturer - educated with a masters and doctorate in Civil Engineering or related subject area or equivalent level 7 and 8 qualifications.
