We are looking for an Academic Study Skills Officer to join the Academic Study Skills and Mentoring Team. This post will support the team in reviewing existing support for academic study skills for undergraduate and taught postgraduate students and embed study skills provision within the curriculum. You will provide advice and guidance and will have knowledge of student transition, retention and attainment and be enthusiastic in developing initiatives to enhance the student experience.
The post holder will develop lesson plans and deliver in person classes covering a range of study skills topics. You will be an excellent communicator with advanced administrative skills, overseeing administrative tasks associated with the role, including monitoring and reporting on attendance and engagement, responding creatively to student engagement trends, and working collaboratively across the University to deliver study skills at institutional and programme level.
You will have an understanding of the current challenges facing taught students, be creative and solutions orientated and work with colleagues, including University Learning Technologists, to create and develop learning materials accessible to students remotely, using Blackboard and Xerte as key learning platforms.
The post holder will deliver on a range of objectives, to enhance best practice, liaise with internal and external stakeholders and support students in their learning. Where required, you will contribute to the training and development of our award-winning student mentor scheme and to the communications and marketing strategy for the Service.

The role is full-time, 35 hours per week over 5 days (with some occasional Saturday and evening work) and is available immediately. The post is fixed term until 31st July 2025.
Salary: £32,332 - £34,980 per annum (Grade 5)
