Main duties and responsibilities

We are recruiting for the Head of Innovation post within RES. The post holder will strategically lead and deliver on the Innovation Objectives within the Research and Enterprise Strategy to significantly grow income through the commercialisation of the University’s research provision and academic expertise. Working collaboratively across the University and with external stakeholders, the post holder will lead a team of knowledge transfer professionals responsible for establishing and selling a range of knowledge exchange products to meet market demands from different business clients in the public, private and third sectors, and support the transferrable impact of such activity across the University.  This will involve working with a range of internal and external stakeholders to showcase the enterprising nature of the University and its research cohort.

Skills and experience required

You will have proven experience of leading a team in a business development environment, ideally within the Higher Education or an R&D intensive sector. In addition, you will be confident in identifying, negotiating, and converting opportunities and income generation activity. You will have sound knowledge of different funding bodies, innovation funding mechanisms and government innovation agendas. You will be able to use marketing and communications campaigns to showcase UH’s research expertise and grow a community of businesses accessing UH touchpoints.

You will be highly self-motivated, professional and collegiate in your approach and fully committed to delivering a high-quality service. Importantly, you will be demonstrably passionate about this area and proactive about the University delivering impact for its global and regional partners.

Qualifications required

You will be educated with a minimum of an Honours degree or equivalent relevant professional qualification, and substantial proven relevant experience.
