University College Birmingham (UCB) is seeking a highly experienced safeguarding professional to lead and further develop its safeguarding and Further Education pastoral support services.
As part of the ambitious Student Services and Wellbeing directorate, the Safeguarding and FE Pastoral Support team provides front-line support and advice to students and staff and is also the point of contact for external agencies and bodies involved in safeguarding and child protection matters.
The successful candidate will bring significant experience of working with young people and students in a similar setting and will possess an excellent working understanding of all relevant legislation and statutory guidance applicable to this role, including, but not limited to KCSIE, 2024 and Prevent. The postholder will be expected to ensure all colleagues possess an understanding of their professional responsibilities and will promote good practice through the delivery of ongoing training and awareness raising and that policies and processes are accurate and effective.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead and Head of FE Pastoral Support will use their excellent leadership, management and innovation skills to ensure that services are accessible to all students and staff and that they remain agile and responsive to the internal and external environments.
Working as part of the Directorate’s Management Team, the postholder will develop excellent working relationships across the institution and beyond and will play a key role in strengthening our approach to cross-institution collaborative working.
