About the role:

The Strategic Programmes and Change Team at Imperial ensures the successful delivery, implementation, and benefits realization of strategic programmes that enable Imperial’s strategy as a world-changing global powerhouse.

We have two roles available and are looking for experienced Project Managers who are excited by delivering transformation on an organisational scale, with experience delivering digital, people/organisational or infrastructure transformation projects.

What you would be doing:

Your role covers all aspects of project management, from planning and risk management to governance, reporting, stakeholder engagement, and benefits realisation. You will also act on behalf of the Programme Director and Programme Manager, recommending changes to optimise outcomes.

Working closely with the Strategic Change team, you’ll ensure programme alignment with organisational goals, creating the right conditions for success. As part of the Strategic Portfolio Team, you’ll contribute to team culture and enhance the project delivery capability across the University.

We are seeking qualified and experienced project managers skilled in adapting a range of project management approaches and comfortable operating in agile, waterfall and hybrid environments. You should have a proven track record of managing strategic high-impact projects or programmes, and successfully delivering transformation through strong technical and stakeholder management skills

What we are looking for:

A summary of the key skills/experience we are looking for is below, and you can find the full person specification in the job description.

  • Recognised project management and/or programme management qualification (e.g. Agile, APM, MSP, PRINCE2)
  • Experience in delivering strategic projects in either digital, people or infrastructure transformation, under varied methodologies (agile, waterfall, hybrid, product led)
  • Experience in supporting the delivery of quality, benefits, outcomes and value for money in a range of strategic projects or programmes
  • Experience of managing a project to meet organisational project delivery frameworks and processes, including governance, benefits and risk management, and assurance and readiness assessments
  • Experience of negotiating and working with a broad range of stakeholders on large programmes
  • Experience delivering change in a complex organisation, ideally in HE sector or similar environment
  • Knowledge of project and programme processes throughout delivery from inception to post implementation and evaluation
  • Confident user of computer software packages at intermediate level, including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with additional experience using project management tools (MS Project, Asana, Jira or similar)
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to work at pace whilst maintaining quality, and prioritising time effectively
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to deal tactfully but effectively in “political environments” using influence and interpersonal skills where direct authority may not exist
  • A team player who can balance need, risk and pragmatism when developing solutions.

What we can offer you:

  • Play an active role in delivering an ambitious transformation agenda within a world leading institution
  • Enhance your programme and change management skills by working on diverse, organisation-wide projects
  • Enjoy a sector-leading salary, 39 days annual leave, and generous pension schemes.
  • Access flexible working, generous family leave, on-site leisure facilities, and a cycle-to-work scheme.
  • Benefit from interest-free travel loans and a supportive, inclusive work environment promoting personal and professional wellbeing.
