Duties of the Role
The Director of International Student Recruitment is a new senior post, bringing together a range of activity previously managed across the Directorate. The post holder will be responsible for the development and implementation of the University’s highly successful international recruitment strategy, in support of the University’s strategic priorities and long-term internationalisation goals. The Director will take a strategic and operational lead in relation to a range of areas central to our recruitment activity – and be expected to take an authoritative and strategic role in advising on our approach to raising our profile, managing relationships, and recruiting globally.
To ensure we maximise international student recruitment opportunities, the role holder will work closely with the Director of Marketing and Student Recruitment, Director of Admissions, Director of Advancement, Director of Communications, and the Director of Partnerships (as well as the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Deans of Partnerships and other members of the University’s senior leadership team and other senior staff) to advise on strategic direction of this important area of work.

They will also provide wider strategic support to the University’s senior leadership, including: with developing and managing our portfolio of education and research partnerships; our alumni engagement programme and wider stakeholder engagement and profile raising activity (including PR and media support in market).
Skills and qualifications required
The successful candidate will hold a degree or equivalent level of qualification or experience and will have substantial strategic experience and a proven record of leading international student recruitment within a HE context.
They will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluation international plans and strategies, and will have proven experience of oversight of agent management, related compliance and be competent in building productive stakeholder relationships.
They will have experience of managing external consultants, contractors and staff including in a variety of international settings as well as the ability to develop a culture of creativity, with the ability to enthuse and inspire.
