Leeds Arts University is the only specialist arts university in the North of England. We have contributed significantly to the development of arts education for over 170 years, and have developed a national and international reputation based on the achievements of our students and staff.

We are looking for a proactive, responsive and motivated manager to lead our Academic Support Team. The team are responsible for ensuring support and guidance is in place for students with disabilities and for delivering study skills programmes to the wider student body. The role is pivotal to ensuring students with specific and learning difficulties, disabilities and other conditions get the most out of their University journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management: Oversee and manage the Academic Support Team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality support tailored to students with disabilities.
  • Study Skills Programs: Coordinate and deliver a range of study skills programs to enhance students' academic abilities. Develop a university-wide study skills plan of workshops designed to support students in developing their academic skills.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with academic colleagues, external agencies, and administrative staff to ensure a cohesive and high-quality and effective support service. Liaise with local authorities around Further Education funding for (EHCP) provision.
  • Learning Support Plans: Lead the development and implementation of Learning Support Plans (LSPs) and ensure reasonable adjustments are effective and communicated appropriately.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Provide accurate, up-to-date management information and reports on the operation of the service to various stakeholders. Ensure compliance with disability legislation and university policies.
  • Knowledge & Updates: Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the academic support and disability fields. Disseminate key updates to the Head of Student Support and ensure students can access Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) funding and appropriate support.
