University of Sunderland - Health Sciences & Wellbeing - School of Medicine

Location: Sunderland
Salary: £27,171 to £29,624
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 12th September 2024
Closes: 24th September 2024
Job Ref: 0234-24

About the role

You will support the project lead with recruitment, data collection, data analysis and day to day running of the project.

You are invited to join our multi-disciplinary research team to support a qualitative evaluation of a new FibroScan (liver scanning) pathway in County Durham.

You will work with experts in public health and alcohol use disorder across the University of Sunderland, Newcastle University, the NHS and the County Durham Drug and Alcohol service. You will work with people identified as having potentially harmful levels of alcohol consumption.

The newly developed pathway is for males aged 45-to-59 who are drinking over 50 units of alcohol per week. It aims to facilitate the early identification of liver damage related to alcohol consumption, leading to improved health outcomes, and reducing health inequalities in the Northeast of England.

This qualitative evaluation will explore the perspectives of service users, healthcare providers and support staff regarding FibroScan and the FibroScan pathway and aims to understand facilitators and barriers to engagement while identifying possible solutions to increase uptake.

This is a fixed-term post for seven months.

What you can bring

You will have an undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g. Psychology, Public Health, Health Sciences) and have sound knowledge of qualitative research methods. You will also have excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with research participants. You may also hold a master’s degree or have experience of working in the field of alcohol use disorders.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 24th September (23:59 GMT)

Interviews/Assessments will likely be held on Friday 4th October
