You will be working with Dr Claudia Vecciolini, Professor Marcela Miozzo and Professor Damian Grimshaw from King’s Business School. About the role

This 8-month project, with the potential for a 6-month extension, aims to explore critical questions regarding digital transformation in manufacturing firms. The post holder will work closely with the project investigators to develop an original theoretical framework and conduct data collection and analysis within the project's scope. The role also involves liaising with external organisations, such as firms, public authorities, and business associations, to organise project meetings and discuss findings. Additionally, the post holder will be invited to engage with the vibrant community of King’s Business School. This includes attending seminars and social events, connecting with other early career researchers, and interacting with the diverse expertise within the School.

This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 8 months (with a possibility for a 6 month extension).

About you

Essential criteria

  • PhD in innovation studies, organisation studies, employment studies, sociology, economics, or management (we will consider candidates who have submitted, or are close to submitting, their PhD but have not yet been awarded their PhD)
  • Research experience in conducting interviews and adopting qualitative approaches to theory building
  • Research expertise in digital technologies, strategic alliances, skills and/or innovation and the challenges facing business
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Desirable criteria

  • Submitted a paper to a high-quality refereed journal in a relevant field
  • Interest in industrial economics, organisation studies or industrial and technology policy
  • Knowledge of text analysis techniques and software
