UCL Arts and Science (UASc) is the leading interdisciplinary studies department in the UK, bringing together staff and students across arts and humanities, social sciences and sciences. UASc brings together two undergraduate programmes, Masters in Arts and Sciences and is seeking to develop both research, pedagogy and teaching in interdisciplinarity and the new wave of humanities and practice teaching.

UASc oversees the BA in Creative Arts and Humanities (BACAH). The Bachelor in Creative Arts and Humanities will lead a new generation of humanities teaching that combines critical humanities scholarship with arts practice and had its first intake in 2023/24.

About the role

We are looking for a Technician - Film-Making to support the BA Creative Arts and Humanities degree.

The post will primarily support the moving image strand, but the postholder may support the other two strands (writing and performance) if those strands also have equipment needs. The postholder will be required to introduce the use of software and equipment clearly and effectively to staff and students, as well as provide comprehensive teaching support including technical workshops, masterclasses and one-to-one tutorials.

The postholder will be responsible for maintaining the equipment, managing the equipment database, and work with other technicians and ISD colleagues based at the UCL East campus. They will also contribute to the management of the technical budget each year.

This post is based at the UCL East campus in Stratford. Some travel between the UCL East and Bloomsbury campuses may be required. This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 20% on site, but final working patterns will be determined by teaching support requirements and the Department Manager.

This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.

About you

Applicants will have extensive knowledge and experience of the fundamentals of film production processes as well as film production workflows. Applicants will also have experience of providing high-level technical support, or equivalent experience, in film production as well as experience in using film production software applications and professional film production equipment.
