- THE ROLE -

The postholder will provide in-depth knowledge and understanding of technical aspects of textile production to support a range of activities in Embroidery. The role mainly supports the following programmes: BA Hons Textile Art, Design and Fashion; MSc Fashion and Textile Retail Management; BA Hons Product Design; MSc Art Therapy; Foundation (year 0); and other courses and activities as required within the Belfast School of Art. Within the discipline of Embroidery, the postholder will provide skilled technical assistance, instruction, guidance, demonstrating equipment and processes as appropriate.

- ABOUT YOU -

- You will provide workshop and studio-based design, sampling, prototyping and manufacturing technical support including the maintenance of an equipment facility in the workshop environments associated with the specialist support of Embroidery. 

- You will prioritise your own work within a general plan or schedule to meet deadlines and appropriate standards so as to ensure the School’s workshops are available for use by students, and you will prepare for and provide technical assistance to timetabled sessions and open access periods.

- You will ensure that the department is well maintained, this includes but is not limited to: budget and stock management; and responsibility for the care and upkeep of departmental machines.

- You will provide a support service including the first line diagnosis, maintenance and repair of faults in workshop equipment such as faults in apparatus, the materials compositions or in the tools, machinery or process. This will include equipment and technologies associated with their associated with their specialist support discipline areas and general art and design or academic activity equipment.
