The University's Centre for Music Performance (CMP) is seeking a Projects Coordinator to join our dynamic and supportive team.
About the Division:
The Centre for Music Performance is a University department which runs a broad programme of cocurricular musical activities spanning multiple genres and catering for students of all musical experience-levels. The Centre's programme ranges from flagship University ensembles which aspire to the highest levels of excellence to instrument lessons for beginners, and from beginner-level DJ and songwriting classes to masterclasses with world-leading performers. The Centre also offers practical support for an even wider range of student-run and college-based musical activity.
The Role:
The Projects Coordinator manages the delivery of a range of Centre for Music Performance programmes and projects, principally but not exclusively focussed on Western classical music, reporting to the Performance Manager.
Activities managed by the post-holder include but are not limited to selected auditions, small ensemble concerts, masterclasses and taster sessions, competitions, training schemes including the Instrumental Awards Scheme for Chamber Music, the Lieder Scheme, the Choral Access Scheme and conducting and continuo training programmes, and selected performances by the University's professionally-led ensembles.
In common with other members of the Centre for Music Performance team, the post-holder duty-manages evening and weekend rehearsals for a wide range of projects on a regular basis, working to the Centre's staff roster. This involves evening and weekend work for which offset hours are worked. The role involves working with students, staff and visiting artists and conductors.
This is a term-time only role, equating to a 0.7 FTE contract across the year. The post-holder will work full-time for 31 weeks per year, covering Cambridge terms plus one week either side and an additional week in the run-up to Michaelmas Term. The normal hours of work will be 36.5 hours a week, Monday to Sunday variable (full time on a rota basis including evenings, weekends and bank holidays). The exact times of work will be notified to the post-holder separately.
About you:
In order to succeed in this role, you will join us with professional experience of managing the delivery of musical activity in a professional or educational organisation, a high level of musical literacy, and a strong administrative skillset.
