We are excited to announce a fantastic opportunity at Birkbeck, University of London for a Bar and Catering Assistant. Birkbeck is a world-class research and teaching institution with a unique tradition of providing higher education to people in work. We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our team and contribute to our mission.

As a Bar and Catering Assistant, you will be:

  • Responsible for providing excellent customer service while preparing food and beverages
  • Ensuring the smooth running of the Bar
  • Providing a full range of Bar and hospitality service at events/ receptions both in the Bar and across the College
  • Maintaining the highest standards of customer care on every shift
  • Assisting in stock control, reducing waste and driving sales
  • Actively taking part in team communication and promoting good teamwork.

The ideal candidate for the Bar and Catering Assistant role would have:

  • Experience with supporting and setting up event spaces
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and legislative protocols
  • Good IT skills, particularly experience with using EPOS (Electronic point of sale)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Remuneration

Annual salary of £14,488 rising to £15,009 (actual), (57% FTE) (£25,418-£26,332 pro-rata, FTE) Grade 2 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.

Terms and Conditions
