Are you a skilled electrician looking to make a difference in an academic environment? We are seeking a Maintenance Technician (Multi-Trade Electrician) to join our Estates Department at Birkbeck, University of London. This role is crucial in ensuring a safe and efficient working environment for our staff, students, and visitors.

As a Maintenance Technician (Multi-Trade Electrician), you will:

  • Develop familiarity with business-critical systems alongside Senior Electrical Maintenance Technicians
  • Handle emergencies and breakdowns responsibly
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and college-specific health, safety, and quality standards
  • Act as the first point of contact for emergency repairs, including on-call duties
  • Assist in the maintenance and operation of HVAC services.

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician (Multi-Trade Electrician) who has:

  • Good working knowledge of health and safety laws
  • Experience in estates electrical repair and maintenance
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills
  • Computer literacy, including spreadsheets and word processing.

Salary and benefits:

£29,392 rising to £32,962 per annum, Grade 4 of the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance that applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.

Contract:

Open-ended permanent contract. Full-time (35 hours a week - 8am-4pm) including evening shift and out-of-hours rota (8am-9.30pm).
