The Faculty of Architecture and History of Art is seeking a Course Technical Administrator, primarily supporting the Department of Architecture.

This is a part-time (0.6FTE) permanent role within the department, and Faculty, working with our Computer Officer and wider course teams. Whilst the Faculty is supportive of flexible working, it is anticipated that the role holder will work in-person, three full days per week.

This varied role covers support linked to specialist (architectural) software, and printing, as well as some website & virtual learning environment maintenance. All necessary training will be given, and the Faculty celebrates curiosity and diversity, and staff are always encouraged to seek out additional training where relevant to the role.

It is anticipated that the role-holder will enjoy optimising and learning new systems and processes, as well as having some experience in a support role, and a willingness to assist students and staff.

Examples of day-to-day work include:

  • Assisting students with a printer/plotter setup and malfunctions
  • Assisting students with printing/plotting guidance
  • Assisting with possible AV usage problems
  • Ensuring copyright information is kept up to date on Moodle sites
  • Assisting with minor corrections to the website
  • Assisting students with software installation and licensing
  • Liaising with staff regarding reading lists (iDiscover and Leganto)
  • Ad hoc assistance with University systems such as CCWS (casual workers), Booker (room bookings) and Panopto (lecture recordings)
  • Resolving an issue with an access card
  • Receiving a delivery of IT equipment and unpacking and setup

It is an exciting time to join the Faculty, with the beginning of the new Design Tripos in October 2024 in the Department of Architecture. It is anticipated that the role-holder will play an important role in supporting the new Tripos as well as supporting the existing Architecture, and History of Art degrees.
