About the role

Oxford Botanic Garden and Arboretum is seeking a junior horticulturist to help cultivate and maintain the plant collections grown at the Botanic Garden, with occasional work at the Arboretum.

You will contribute to the day-to-day maintenance of the garden, predominately in the Outside (Hardy) collections with occasional duties to support the care of the Glasshouses, working closely with the Garden Supervisor and the Curator and Head of Horticulture (CHH) to achieve high horticultural standards. You will undertake general cultivation duties, including watering, weeding, planting, pruning and training and lawn maintenance operations.

This is a permanent full-time post, working 36.5 hours per week.

About You

  • You will have the ability to work outdoors in all weather.
  • Ability to perform manual labour, including bending, lifting, and kneeling is also essential.
  • You will have the ability to use a range of garden machinery and equipment.
  • Experience from working in a public and or heritage setting is desirable.
