Join the University of Sheffield for an outstanding opportunity in groundbreaking drug development research. You can contribute to the fight against antibiotic-resistant bacteria by providing technical support to a small team of scientists working an exciting discovery program. We seek an enthusiastic co-worker to carry out a range of techniques targeting a pathogen called Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
As the team's laboratory technician, you will primarily be responsible for providing high-quality protein reagents for your colleagues as well as implementing sophisticated assays developed within the group. You will also carry out cell-based assessments on bacterial and mammalian cells to determine their responses to our molecules. Typical responsibilities will be:
To be successful in this role, you must have relevant academic qualifications and laboratory experience in the following techniques; cloning, PCR, recombinant protein production, use of FPLC chromatography system, cell culture skills (bacterial and mammalian), experience of working in an ISO9001 laboratory, immediate availability . You will also be familiar with basic chemo-informatics and drug screening tools.
You will join a team of researchers led by Prof. Jon Sayers, which includes structural biologists dedicated to identifying new drugs to treat disease. The team has access to brand new protein purification and analytical services, modern labs, and the range of equipment and facilities required to conduct innovative research.
