The Norwich Bioscience Institutes Partnership (NBIP) has an exciting opportunity for a Business Systems Support Analyst to join their busy Computing department.

Background:

The Norwich Bioscience Institutes are a cluster of internationally renowned research organisations, working to tackle major challenges of the 21st Century – the sustainability of our environment, our food supplies and healthy ageing. 

The NBI Partnership provides high quality, non-scientific support services for the diverse community of staff, students and visiting workers at the Institutes (the Earlham Institute, John Innes Centre, The Sainsbury Laboratory and Quadram Institute Bioscience) and for the NBI Partnership.

Based on the Norwich Research Park amongst 230 hectares of parkland, you will be joining a committed, professional and welcoming team. The Core Computing and Information Services Department has 18 staff meeting the IT needs of 4 Scientific Institutes and also provides system administration support to the HR, Finance and Facilities teams. The Department has 3 teams covering IT Infrastructure, Desktop Support, and Information Systems & Application Development.

The role:

You will play a key role in the support and optimisation of the existing NBI business systems as well as assisting with the Business Systems Transformation programme which will replace all current systems over the coming years. You will work alongside other team members in the Information Systems and Application Development team, reporting directly to the Business Systems Transformation Manager.

The post will work collaboratively with the HR, Finance, Library and Facilities team members, as well as science users in the institutes to help provide an excellent business systems environment meeting the current and future needs of NBI’s world leading bioscience research community.

The ideal candidate:

The post holder will have a degree in a relevant subject or have recent relevant experience. You will have direct experience of application support with good background knowledge of SQL database design, client server architecture, patching & upgrades and scripting. It is advantageous if you have knowledge of different Finance and HR systems.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is an adaptable self-starter and a quick learner with a good track record of supporting a wide range of business systems and commercial applications.

Additional information:

Salary on appointment will be within the range £36,000 to £44,500 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time post offered on an indefinite basis.
