This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is experienced in and passionate about providing support and guidance to people with disabilities to join our Disability & Welfare team. Within this role you will assist students with declared disabilities, working to ensure a positive student-centred outcome and overall success on their programme. As an online provider, support will primarily be through phone and video calls and email correspondence. You will connect and build a rapport with a wide range of stakeholders and respond appropriately to their needs. 

Your accountabilities and responsibilities include: 

  • Support and be responsible for a case load of students, often with complex support requirements.
  • Develop resources and provide effective information, advice and guidance to students.
  • Liaise with staff across UCEM, medical professionals and external agencies to ensure the effective implementations and best practice of support for disabled students.
  • Carry out needs assessments and draw up personal Additional Support Plans (ASPs).
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records in relation to the support required and provided.

Our main requirements:

  • Experience supporting disabled people, some with complex needs, and providing relevant advice/guidance.
  • Relevant demonstrable experience of paid/voluntary work of delivering pastoral support
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of statutory Safeguarding, Prevent and Disability legislation (including the Equality Act 2010) and how these can be applied in a Higher Education setting.
  • GCSE Maths and English Language Grade C or 4 or above.
