Working as part of a technical support team providing a comprehensive, immediate and specialised support service for staff and students within the Division, the role of Technician helps to deliver timely and effective specialised research and teaching support to students, academic and research staff at all levels and visitors to the Division. 

As Technician you can expect to be involved in:

  • Develop and optimize fermentation processes for converting agricultural waste into yeast feedstocks; 
  • Conduct laboratory experiments to identify and select suitable agricultural waste substrates for yeast/filamentation fungi growth; 
  • Quantify nutritional profiles and toxin production in different yeast species and filamentous fungi; 
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate fermentation processes into larger production systems; 

What will you bring to the role?

  • Educated to A level or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Proven experience of working in a Technical support role 
  • Relevant theoretical knowledge in a related work area
