The School of Nursing & Midwifery at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to recruit a Professor in Implementation Science with expertise in health and research methods to develop and deliver implementation science studies in the context of health and social care.

Established in 1991, Queens School of Nursing & Midwifery provides a range of innovative programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level, which prepare nurses, midwives and healthcare professionals for leadership roles in clinical care, teaching, management and research.

With approximately 3,500 students, the School has one of the most extensive portfolios of programmes of any nursing and midwifery school in the UK or Ireland.

The overall vision of the School is to provide a learning community committed to excellence in teaching, research, scholarship and practice that contributes to local and global efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of society.

The successful candidate will lead, support, and initiate collaborative implementation research on a variety of research projects. The postholder will bring public health and mixed methods research expertise and will be expected to contribute to multiple research and capacity strengthening projects across the School / Faculty and further building on collaborative links with H&SC Trusts and service users.

About the person:

  • Honours degree.
  • PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline. (e.g. nursing, midwifery, medicine, pharmacy, public health, health services research, or a related field)
  • Sustained record of publications in peer reviewed journals that are impactful in practice and REF returnable at an international level of excellence.
  • Sustained record of playing a leading role in successful bids for competitive, peer-reviewed national or international grants or other awards with significant external peer reviewed research funding related to implementation science as a Principal Investigator over a sustained period.
  • Strong research collaborations outside current institution and experience in leading or making significant contribution to interdisciplinary teams.
  • Research profile that complements the research priorities of the School/Institute
  • Successful, sustained postgraduate student supervision as primary supervisor normally at PhD level
  • Experience of teaching students and in the supervision of students at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
