Your high degree of confidence and strong communication skills will support you in dealing with colleagues (Professional Services Staff, Academic Staff, including Personal/Senior Tutors, Centre Director etc) on a daily basis on a range of student-related issues. You will supervise the day to day activities of other team members whilst taking the lead on a key area of student administration (this could include areas such as Study Support Plans, Engagement Monitoring, Exceptional Circumstances, Student Wellbeing etc).
Given the nature of work in the Centre you may also be expected to assist with events such as Welcome Week and Open Days. You may also be required to assist in meeting the operational requirements of the Centre in terms of health and safety; purchasing; building maintenance; marketing and financial activities.
You should apply if
Able to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as possessing excellent administrative skills, we are looking for flexibility in approach, the ability to manage often conflicting deadlines, good interpersonal skills and a positive approach which will enable you to motivate others. You must be able to work at a fast pace, often under pressure and have confidence in your decision-making ability. You should possess the ability to work well as part of as team but can also act independently using your own initiative. Strong communication skills are essential, including having the tact and empathy to form productive working relationships with a wide range of colleagues and students. You must be willing and able to deal directly with students, engaging with them around aspects of welfare, attendance, submissions, and other student-related issues.
You will need a strong understanding of the systems and processes for teaching and learning at the University, as well as excellent organisational and supervisory skills to support and enable the team to deliver an outstanding service to students and teaching staff.
Ideally you will already have some relevant experience and possess the drive and customer care skills to deliver a high-quality service to a range of stakeholders at all levels. Experience of working with a range of IT systems and software is also strongly preferred.
