Are you keen to take the lead managing the kitchen operations of a busy university catering department?
University of East Anglia (UEA) Catering Services (https://www.uea.ac.uk/uea-life/campus-life/eat-and-drink) are keen to hire an Executive Chef to take the lead in all kitchen and food areas of the business, ensuring top levels of food quality, cost effectiveness, and safety management.
The Campus Kitchen brand has 13 outlets across the UEA campus and Norwich Research Park, with an extremely wide variety of food and service styles ranging from grab-and-go, street food, fine dining events, and a busy delivered catering department.
This role will oversee the kitchen and back of house operations in all areas and will be a mainspring behind the successful deliverance of daily, monthly and yearly targets, with a keen eye for development and team growth.
Is this position right for me?
This role isn’t for the faint hearted – the right candidate will love building staff morale and will be a role model for the department, developing training and line managing back of house teams. You’ll also be knowledgeable on factors affecting both large scale catering operations and the wider catering market, growing income in outlets whilst having a keen eye for purchasing and effectively managing resources.
You will be a driving force for testing new food trends with our large base of students and staff, whilst also understanding the importance of upholding and implementing food safety and health & safety legislation. You’ll deputise for the Head of Catering & Hospitality when required, and you will know how to deliver tough decisions when needed.
The role requires a manager who is ready to work hours as required by the business to ensure we deliver a service to the highest standard and are excited to take on a significant position within the university’s management structure.
This full-time position is available immediately on an indefinite basis.
What are the benefits of working for UEA?
Further information on our great benefits package, including 44 days annual leave inclusive of Bank Holidays and additional University Customary days can be found on our benefits page. There are no split shifts, and you will only be required to work later hours on very limited occasions.
If you meet all the essential requirements of the person specification, including having a strong background in management and a great catering success story from your career, we would love to hear from you.
Closing date: 11 August 2024
