The Energy Policy Research Group (EPRG) is based at Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge. The group has broad expertise in economics, technology policy and political science and our research is focused on the electricity and energy industry. The core research discipline of the group is economics, within a framework that encourages collaboration between experts from different academic traditions, drawing on insights from engineering, political science and law. The group is supported by the research councils, philanthropic foundations, as well as by industry stakeholders via its Energy Policy Forum (EPF).

The purpose of this role is to manage and develop relationships with EPF member organisations and identify and support opportunities for additional funding. The role holder will have to identify the intersections between recent, ongoing or future EPRG research, key energy policy themes and the strategic outlook of energy companies and other institutions.  Playing this role effectively will require continuous contact with EPRG (and other) researchers, extensive exposure to the industry and to energy policy circles in London, Brussels and beyond. The role holder will also explore other funding opportunities to support the EPF including grant applications for research activities such as UK Research and Innovation or the European Commission and/or donations from charitable foundations.

You will be educated to Masters' Degree level or above in a relevant discipline (economics, public policy, engineering etc). You will have a strong track record of working with academic researchers and independent research institutions. Experience engaging with industry and policy-makers in the energy sector and is also a pre-requisite. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to demonstrate accuracy and fluency in spoken and written communications is also an essential part of this role.  A strong quantitative financial awareness and the aptitude to learn to manage costs and develop budget is also a requirement.  Other desirable characteristics include experience managing teams or academic groups, direct experience in industry and/or policy-making, and experience in writing grant applications for funders such as UK research councils, European Union, industry and/or charitable foundations This is a fixed term role for 12 months in the first instance, working 0.6 FTE (22.2 hours per week). It is expected that at least half of the working hours would be in the office.
