The University of Glasgow is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant/Associate in Neurophotonics within the School of Physics & Astronomy to contribute to/make a leading contribution to the development of brain reading technology working with Prof. Daniele Faccio and his research team at the Advanced Research Centre, University of Glasgow.
The project will bridge disciplines such as AI, neuroscience and imaging and will therefore work in a multidisciplinary team developing novel sensing systems for brain diagnostics. The team will be working towards the development of new approaches to brain reading and monitoring of brain health. The project can be tailored to some extent to meet your specific expertise varies and we will consider applicants with knowledge and expertise in different areas as the project has multiple aspects. Examples therefore are: expertise in AI and computational techniques for imaging and sensing when these have been applied to specific problems even if not necessarily related to neuroimaging; expertise in the neurosciences and neurotechnology, for example the design and execution of experiments involving one or more technologies such as EEG, MEG, fNIRS, fMRI; expertise in new and emerging technology development, including for example fNIRS or DCS for imaging brain tissue or brain activity.
To be considered for an appointment at Grade 7, you must be able to perform the duties as listed for a Research Assistant position with a higher degree of independence, leadership and responsibility, particularly in relation to planning, funding, collaborating and publishing research, and mentoring colleagues. You must also have, or be about to obtain, a Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12 (PhD) or alternatively possess the equivalent in professional qualifications and experience, with experience of personal development in a similar or related role(s)
