The School of Social and Political Sciences seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Research Methods and Inequality. We especially encourage applications from women, disabled and ethnic minority candidates, as these groups are underrepresented in the School. You will be located in the Sociology subject area, and you will contribute to an excellent student experience by delivering, organising and developing teaching on qualitative methods courses which run across the school at both UG and PG level. We especially welcome candidates with experience of teaching cross-disciplinary qualitative courses for large and diverse student bodies.

You will also develop, lead and sustain research and scholarship of international standard, engaging with questions of inequality and its possible intersection with other research areas in Sociology and related School research themes such as inclusive economy, democracy, migration and social movements, equality, human rights and governance.

The School is a leading centre of interdisciplinary social science, bringing together research, innovation and student education to tackle the key social and political challenges of our time. It attracts and supports talented staff and students from across the world and works together with key external partners to support a diverse, inclusive and collegiate centre of inquiry.

Applications are invited from candidates with a PhD [Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12] in Sociology or a closely related discipline.

Applications are particularly welcome from across our communities and in particular people from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community, and other protected characteristics who are under-represented within the University.
