The German section in the the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Outreach Coordinator to join us on a part-time (0.25FTE) for a fixed term period of 12 months.
The Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics is a world-leading centre for teaching and research in language and linguistics comprising of six Sections: French, German, Italian, Slavonic, Spanish & Portuguese, and Theoretical & Applied Linguistics. With nearly 1,000 students (over 770 undergraduates, 100 MPhil students and 180 PhD students), the Faculty is home to around 140 academic, research and professional services staff based on the University's Sidgwick Site, a short walk from the Centre of Cambridge.
The role holder will coordinate widening participation and student recruitment activity designed to generate interest in the study of German and increase the number and variety of high-quality applicants for the course. Working alongside academic colleagues, you will plan, promote, deliver and evaluate a programme of activity (in-person and online) as well as engaging with school contacts proactively. You will identify new opportunities to engage in public engagement programmes, collaborating with wider University initiatives wherever possible to maximise the impact of our work. With experience of work in an educational setting, you will have excellent communication and organisational skills and a successful track-record of event design/coordination. You will help to oversee a team of student volunteers, capable of operating independently, to expand the impact of your work.
