Churchill College is one of the thirty-one Colleges of the University of Cambridge. It was founded in 1960 as a national and Commonwealth memorial to Sir Winston Churchill. The College is situated just outside the city centre on a superb circa 50-acre site. The College site also includes the MØller Institute, which offers executive education programmes and conference facilities, and the Churchill Archives Centre, which conserves the major Churchill collection, the Thatcher papers and over 500 other important 20th century collections of papers. Churchill College is a registered charity.
In anticipation of the planned retirement of the current role holder, the College is seeking to appoint a new Finance Director. This is a pivotal role. You will deliver effective financial planning, monitoring and reporting to enhance the decision making process of the College. You will ensure the College, its subsidiary companies and Trusts comply with all statutory and external requirements and regulations efficiently and effectively. Reporting to the Bursar (the most senior member of non-academic staff, with overall responsibility for the College's finances) you will work closely and collaboratively with them on developing the College's financial strategy. You will lead the College's Finance Department, coaching and developing your team to ensure they deliver a high quality service to all stakeholders.
A qualified professional accountant, you must have a track record of relevant experience and be able to demonstrate first-rate technical knowledge. You will have excellent leadership and management skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders within the culture of the community. Experience in the higher education and/or charity sector is welcome, but not essential.
