The Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) is seeking to recruit an outstanding individual to make a significant contribution to the strategy, communication and future of the Institute. CIMR is an interdisciplinary biomedical research institute, part of the University Cambridge Clinical School and sited on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. It has a strong track record of delivering cutting edge medical cell biology research, and celebrated its 20th anniversary.
The post holder will work with the Director of the CIMR focusing particularly on the development and delivery of CIMR strategy, communication, governance, evaluation and funding. They will work closely with the CIMR Administrator, PA to the Director and other members of the administration team to provide joined-up strategic, operational and administrative support to the Director and Institute.
The successful candidate will have undergraduate training relevant to cell biology or medicine, and extensive experience in scientific strategic management. They will have excellent writing and communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills in listening, team working and consensus building. They will be independent, motivated, and committed to the long-term success of CIMR.
The full incremental salary range for the position is advertised in order to demonstrate the progression of the Grade. In the majority of case appointments will be made at the Grade minimum, although appointments at a higher salary can be offered to the right candidate.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
The Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) is located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and it is a collaborative Institute at the interface between fundamental research and the clinic, with a mission to determine the molecular mechanisms of disease in order to advance human health.
The position is supported for 3 years initially, with the expectation that further funding will be sought to extend the position to be a long-term feature of the Institute.
