We are looking to appoint senior postdoctoral researchers to join the newly launched Pioneer Centre for SMARTbiomed. The core mission of SMARTbiomed is development of statistical and computational methods focussing on causal inference, risk prediction and machine learning. SMARTbiomed is led Professor Naomi Wray, Michael Davys Professor of Neuroscience. The posts are based in the Big Data Institute, University of Oxford. The appointees will be part of the research group most relevant to their research interests.
Whilst the roles are for Grade 9 positions, we would be willing consider candidates with less experience who are seeking a development opportunity, for which an initial appointment would be at Grade 8: £45,585-£54,395 with the responsibilities adjusted accordingly. This would be discussed with applicants at interview/appointment where appropriate.
The posts are for a fixed term (funded for 3 years)
You will conduct research in line with the goals of SMARTbiomed, including contributing to the evolving research priorities and supporting the collaborative infrastructure. There is scope to determine your own direction of research with details of suggested projects on the website and also listed in the job description.
You will have a PhD/DPhil in statistics, statistical genomics, machine learning, computer science, epidemiology, bioinformatics or related field, along with extensive relevant research experience in method development. With experience of leading grant applications and managing a research budget you will be able to generate ideas for new research projects and research income generation.
Experience of analysing big data and experience with data management and data governance would be desirable.
You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement and a CV as part of your application.
The closing date for this post is 12:00 midday on August 29th 2024
