We are looking to appoint postdoctoral researchers to join the newly launched Pioneer Centre for SMARTbiomed. The core mission of SMARTbiomed is development of statistical and computational methods focussing on causal inference, risk prediction and machine learning. SMARTbiomed is led Professor Naomi Wray, Michael Davys Professor of Neuroscience in collaboration with many Oxford researchers. The posts are based in the Big Data Institute, University of Oxford. The appointees will be part of the research group most relevant to their research interests.
The posts are for a fixed term (funded for 3 years)
You will conduct research in line with the goals of SMARTbiomed, developing new statistical and computational methods designed to use “big data” and addressing questions of direct or indirect relevance to common complex diseases and disorders. There is scope to determine your own direction of research with details of suggested projects on the website and also listed in the job description.
You will have or be close to the completion of a PhD in statistical/computational genomics, machine learning, computer science, bioinformatics, epidemiology, or related field with relevant experience. Specialist knowledge in the discipline and the ability to manage your own academic research is essential. Experience of method development relevant to the goals of SMARTbiomed would be desirable as would knowledge/interest in common complex diseases/disorder and experience of analysing big data.
You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement and a CV as part of your application.
The closing date for this post is 12:00 midday on 29th August 2024
