Advert: We are looking to appoint a science coordinator to join the newly launched Pioneer Centre for SMARTbiomed. The core mission of SMARTbiomed is development of statistical and computational methods focussing on causal inference, risk prediction and machine learning. You will be working with Professor Naomi Wray, Michael Davys Professor of Neuroscience. The post is based in the Big Data Institute, University of Oxford.
Whilst the role is a Grade 8 position, we would be willing consider candidates with less experience who are seeking a development opportunity, for which an initial appointment would be at Grade 7 (£36,024-£44,263) with the responsibilities adjusted accordingly. This would be discussed with applicants at interview/appointment where appropriate.
The post is for a fixed term (funded for 3 years)
You will be an active researcher (50%) but will also be responsible for project management (overview, direction, timelines, output, financial tracking, study scheduling and resource allocation) of the entire portfolio of the Oxford SMARTbiomed research team and integration with teams in Denmark. Since SMARTbiomed is in its early set-up phase you will play an integral role in shaping its establishment. The post would suit a postdoctoral researcher interested in building research management experience.
You will have or be close to the completion of a PhD or equivalent in statistics, statistical genomics, computer science, epidemiology, or related field, along with postdoctoral research experience. With a proven track record of organisational skill set, you will have successfully managed complex projects including oversight of budgets. Knowledge of communication strategies and an interest in machine learning methods would be desirable.
You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement and a CV as part of your application.
The closing date for this post is 12:00 midday on 29th August 2024
