An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Department of Economics, Finance, and Entrepreneurship at Aston Business School as a Postdoctoral Research Associate.
You will collate, manage, and examine data to create and contribute knowledge at the intersection of economics and geography on the relationship between cities, urban economies, and gambling harms under the supervision of Dr Tasos Kitsos. You will write outputs aimed at audiences of varying expertise and utilise local, national and international links to represent the interests of the research project “Bad neighbours: the link between gambling venues and gambling harms”, funded by the Academic Forum for the Study of Gambling.
You will hold (or be near completion for) a PhD in Economics, Quantitative Human Geography, or a related subject. You will have experience of handling large, individual-level datasets. You will be comfortable using advanced econometric techniques and packages (e.g. Stata, R) and have a keen interest in exploring policy related questions related to gambling harms and their spatial footprint.
