Applications are sought for a committed Post-doctoral Research Fellow to work on the project “Identities, Migration and Democracy” (We-ID). The We-ID project, funded by the European Commission, brings together researchers from 8 European universities or research institutes. The project will investigate how demographic change, particularly migration and growing population diversity shape identities, belonging, cohesion and political participation of the European populations. The Post-doctoral Research Fellow will mostly work on a work package on migrants and their descendants. They will investigate how demographic and economic factors shape social, cultural and political identities of migrants and ethnic minorities in Europe and will examine how their identities are related to political participation and trust. They will also project future developments in social identities and political participation of migrants and ethnic minorities.
The successful applicant will have a PhD in a social science discipline (including statistics, computer science and applied mathematics) or should be close to submitting their PhD thesis. They should have experience in handling longitudinal data and conducting event history analysis and/or microsimulation. Good communication and management skills are essential.
The post is available for 36 months starting 3rd February 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
