An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Microbiology within the Division of Biomedical and Life Sciences at the University of Huddersfield. The person appointed to the post would be expected to contribute to teaching in microbiology, including medical microbiology relevant to biomedical subject areas within our BSc Biomedical Science degree programme and other courses within the Division.

You will work with an experienced team to support the delivery, administration and assessment of students. You will be able to demonstrate that you can support students through a range of methods and strategies to ensure a high-quality learning experience.

With a PhD (or nearing completion) in a relevant discipline, the Senior Lecturer position would be suitable for those with a track record of delivering education, research and carrying out associated administration.

You will be joining the Division of Biomedical and Life Sciences, which is part of the Department of Physical and Life Sciences. The Department is part of the School of Applied Sciences. The Department is a great place to work with a supportive and collegiate environment and excellent research facilities. We are proud to hold a School level Silver Athena SWAN award, recognising our advancement in gender equality. The University of Huddersfield is a thriving University with a modern campus offering fantastic facilities for work and leisure. We have a diverse student body, and we pride ourselves on our high standard of teaching, which has been awarded TEF Gold, and our multi-disciplinary research. The Department is looking to build upon these successes.

You will be expected to establish a research programme or to undertake research to complement and enhance our existing work in the general area of microbiology or other related biology disciplines.

We provide an exciting, stimulating place to learn and work. Our standards of academic achievement are high, our environment is inspiring, and we embrace innovation in all that we do.  With exceptional opportunities for staff development, our students are not the only ones who thrive here.

The University is deeply committed to equality and diversity for all its students and staff.  We seek to be diverse and inclusive, supporting individuals and groups to fulfil their potential and nurture a sense of belonging.  We strive to be an accessible, inclusive employer, removing barriers for all.  Find out more about our approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, including our commitments and accreditations as a Disability Confident Employer, Stonewall Top 100 Employer, Athena SWAN Bronze Award holder and Race Equality Charter Bronze Award holder.
