Fixed term for 12 months (maternity cover)

We have an exciting opportunity to cover a period of maternity leave from October 2024 to July 2025 as Head of Student Regulations and Casework.
You will play a pivotal part in supporting the Director through the early stages of a significant change management project, working with the directorate’s senior management to develop strategy and set KPIs.
The University is undergoing a transformational change project which sees the convergence of teams formerly based in academic schools and central services. This will be a challenging role and a great opportunity to help to define and develop a new approach across a wide range of registry services and academic administration.
You will have overall responsibility for student regulations and casework, course administration from enrolment to award, exam arrangements and logistics, graduation ceremonies, certificates and verifications.
Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience, you will have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with extensive experience of managing people, processes and change. You will take a collaborative and inclusive approach to building relationships with colleagues across the institution, responding to students’ needs with empathy and fairness, and supporting academic colleagues to maintain regulatory compliance. You will also have extensive experience of mapping and improving processes for greater efficiency and enhanced customer experience.
We offer an excellent employment package including hybrid working, blending a mix of remote and on-campus working (dependent on work duties).
This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months, however, as the post is linked to a maternity absence the end date is subject to change.
The University is deeply committed to equality and diversity for all its students and staff. We seek to be diverse and inclusive, supporting individuals and groups to fulfil their potential and nurture a sense of belonging. We strive to be an accessible, inclusive employer, removing barriers for all. Find out more about our approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, including our commitments and accreditations as a Disability Confident Employer, Stonewall Top 100 Employer, Athena SWAN Bronze Award holder and Race Equality Charter Bronze Award holder.
Informal enquiries are welcome to the Director of Registry, Dr Rachel Birds: r.j.birds@hud.ac.uk
