Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a dedicated Student Services Assistant to join our Student Advice Centre. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys working with a diverse range of people.

The Student Advice Centre, within Registry Services, serves as a hub for customer enquiries and this position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a keen interest in providing excellent customer service in an advisory capacity.

As a Student Services Assistant, you will:

  • Act as the first point of contact for all current and prospective students.
  • Handle enquiries via telephone, email, and in-person, especially during the Clearing Admissions cycle.
  • Provide clear advice on Birkbeck’s admissions policies and procedures.
  • Use College systems to log queries, book appointments, and guide students on enrolment.
  • Work flexibly across different teams, supporting team members and maintain accurate records and resources.

To be successful as a Student Services Assistant, you should have:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • The ability to work well in a team and handle high volumes/extensive work during peak periods.
  • Excellent spoken and written English skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office and the ability to learn new systems.

Remuneration

£26,668 rising to £29,392 per annum. The salary, Grade 3, quoted is on the College's London Pay Scale.

Terms and Conditions

Fixed-term, four month contract. Full-time (35 hours a week). Please submit an Application Form for consideration. Closing date: 9 July 2024. Interview date 22, 23, 24 July 2024. We have five vacancies for this role. Days worked will be based on operational need and may include Saturdays - hybrid role with 2-3 days in the office.
