Faculty / Directorate
The role is an academic post within the department aligned strategically with the Creative Design Subject Group (Game Art, Animation and Graphic Arts) within the Leicester Media School. The Leicester Media School is based within the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media. It offers a wide range of courses in line with emergent demand and the nature of these fast-moving, creative disciplines. Bringing together technical and creative teaching and research, the Leicester Media School offers students opportunities to take part in international competitions and be recognised by respected industry bodies. The school offers industry-standard facilities, including a Virtual Production Studio, and equips students with the skills and specialist knowledge to solve real-world problems.
Role
De Montfort University is seeking a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Animation to join a growing and vibrant academic and creative community. This is a leadership and teaching role within the Animation undergraduate programme, situated within the Leicester Media School. The post holder will be responsible for the innovative development and management of teaching and learning activities within the field of 2D and/or 3D animation. Software taught on the course includes Toon Boom Harmony, Maya, Unreal 5, Adobe CC, TVPaint, ZBrush. Complimentary skills in 3D rigging and modelling, traditional animation practices, alongside broad drawing skills and storyboarding, are also desirable.
The position is on a full-time, permanent basis.

The applicant must evidence an established creative practice and must be fluent in character animation, and narrative storytelling. Our ideal Candidate will be able to demonstrate proficiency in current animation practices through a creative portfolio of work that will be reviewed at interview. The post holder will offer individualised learning and cater for students from diverse and international backgrounds and influence the pedagogy of the subject as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
