The role

The School of Modern Languages is seeking to appoint a Learning Technologist to manage and maintain the Multi Media Centre.

The Multi Media Centre is a state-of-the-art learning centre available to students in the School of Modern Languages. The facilities include a cinema suite and extensive collection of foreign language films, a language lab, and an audio recording and video editing studio.

The role holder will work full time during term time only (33 weeks).

What will you be doing?

The role holder works closely with staff and students to provide crucial technical support within the School of Modern Languages, combining technical expertise with an interest in educational technology.

The role holder will be responsible for operating, servicing, and maintaining the Centre’s equipment and facilities. Using specialist knowledge and skills to support our students and their learning environment. They will work with academic staff to develop new teaching materials using the Centre’s facilities and equipment.

We are looking for someone committed and reliable with a proactive attitude to work, who thrives on helping people. 

You should apply if

  • You have significant experience in a similar technical role, ideally within a student facing role.
  • You have excellent IT skills, including high level of knowledge of relevant specialist software. Knowledge of Blackboard or other digital education tools would be advantageous.
  • You have experience and capability of maintaining and servicing a range of complex audio visual and computing equipment.
  • You have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills and can build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • You are confident working independently and possess strong organisation and prioritisation skills, and an ability to cope under pressure.
  • You are a strong team player, who likes problem solving.
