The role
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented qualitative/mixed-methods Research Fellow to join a multi-disciplinary, international team on the ‘Accessible Results’ study. Improving accessibility and understanding of online blood test results is important for patient-centred care, patient safety, GP workload, and health inequalities. This two year NIHR funded research project aims to develop tools and guidance to help patients with a wide range of needs to access and understand their blood test results online. The postholder will oversee co-ordination, planning and delivery of three work packages which will follow the person-based approach to intervention development, working closely with patients and carers from under-served communities throughout.
The postholder will be based at the Centre for Academic Primary Care in Canynge Hall, Bristol Medical School. You will work with a Research Fellow at the University of Manchester, and a Senior Research Administrator at the University of Bristol. You will collaborate with senior academics at the University of Manchester and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, USA.
What will you be doing?
You will take overall responsibility for managing the project including obtaining ethical approvals, recruitment of NHS GP practices, data collection and analysis, intervention development using user-centred methods and web-based user testing of the final intervention. You will work with academic and non-academic collaborators, including clinicians, NHS and industry stakeholders and patient and public contributors from diverse communities. Attendance at courses will be encouraged and you will be provided with training and development opportunities. You will lead the preparation of reports and papers for publication and co-ordinate activities to maximise engagement with research and impact beyond academia. You will be encouraged/supported to lead on funding applications to follow on from this work.
