Department
The Department of Biology at the University of York seeks to appoint an Associate Lecturer (Teaching & Scholarship) to support teaching, learning and assessment across the department, particularly in the areas of ecology and quantitative and computational biology.
Undergraduate and taught postgraduate teaching in the Department of Biology is blended by design, ranging from directed and independent study, lectures, seminars, workshops and practicals to small group teaching and capstone research projects. Key areas for the successful candidate include experimental design and field research methods, ecological solutions to global challenges, animal behaviour, and skills development in data management, analysis, and coding in the biosciences.
The successful candidate will join the teaching and scholarship group integrated within a large academic faculty that delivers highly successful degree programmes with world class student support. The Department of Biology has a strong tradition of working together to achieve excellence in teaching and research within and across disciplines. You will be strongly encouraged to develop and evaluate inclusive and innovative research-led teaching methods and disseminate these internally and externally through presentations, workshops and publications for diverse audiences.
A PhD or equivalent professional experience in a relevant Biological Sciences area or equivalent is essential. If you do not have a teaching qualification, you will be supported to undertake the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP).
