Are you looking to inspire the next generation of engineering, and would you thrive in teaching apprentices in a university environment?

The Department of Foundation Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Nottingham is looking for an Assistant Professor with electrical and/or electronics engineering expertise and experience to join the teaching team on the Electro-mechanical Engineering BEng degree apprenticeship programme.

About the role:

The role is an Assistant Professor - teaching focused role, and involves teaching in a hybrid manner on the apprenticeship programme – both face-to-face synchronous and remote asynchronous teaching – with cohorts of up to ~50 students, within and beyond university term-time. Your teaching may include specialist electrical and electronics modules and electro-mechanical engineering design and project activities at all levels in the degree programme. You will also act as personal tutor to learners, liaising with them and their employers throughout the programme.

The post is offered on a permanent, full time (36.25 hours per week) contract, with occasional exceptions such as open days. If you are interested in part-time work (minimum 25 hours per week), we encourage you to apply. Please specify your preferred hours in your application. We may also consider job share arrangements.

About you:

You will be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline with relevant experience (such as a PhD, research or industrial experience) in electrical and/or electronic engineering and you will have a track record in development and delivery of teaching or training; industrial experience would be an advantage.

What we offer:

- A friendly, diverse, and supportive working environment.
- The opportunity for some hybrid working when face-to-face contact is not required.
- Generous holiday entitlement of 30 days plus standard bank holidays and five university closure days including closure between Christmas and New Year.
- We are committed to staff development through the provision of training, continued support, and career progression opportunities.
- You will have access to a range of benefits and rewards, including fitness and health facilities, staff discounts, travel schemes and many more. To find out more about what we can offer you, follow the link to our benefits website.
