About us:

At the  Department of Physiology Anatomy & Genetics (DPAG) we undertake discovery science where we reassemble physiological processes at the molecular, cellular, tissue and systems level of organisation. In so doing we provide a bridge to translational medicine, and interface between physical and life sciences. Overview of the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for early career researchers to obtain the Hulme Junior Research Fellowship with DPAG. The successful candidate will be expected to propose, plan and manage a high-quality programme of original research; publicise the outcomes of that research through presentation of papers and publications; and engage in the life and activities of the Department and Brasenose College. The JRF will be expected to collaborate with research partners from other disciplines. We look for individuals who have emerging independence who will make a sustained and positive contribution to DPAG’s mission and community. Candidate will need to demonstrate that the consumable costs for the proposed project will be fully covered by the candidate or the hosting laboratory.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage independent research projects.
  • Develop new experimental techniques and protocols.
  • Publish in high-impact journals and present research findings.
  • Identify and apply for external funding.
  • Supervise and train research staff and students.

Selection criteria:

  • PhD/DPhil in a relevant field (or near completion).
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Multidisciplinary and collaborative mindset.
  • Commitment to EDI and sustainable practices.
