Careers are seeking a resourceful and capable applicant who can collaborate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, to deliver exciting new internship programmes. You will build local – and national – labour market intelligence and engage with employers and recruiters, to ensure our students develop the skills and graduate attributes employers’ demand.
You will be able to work confidently under your own initiative, whilst participating in key team operations. We are looking for a proactive and motivated candidate with excellent interpersonal, organisational and project management skills.
About us
The post sits in the dynamic Employer Engagement team within Careers. We organise university wide employer engagement opportunities, bringing students, graduates and employers together. We are a target university for high profile graduate recruiters but also work hard to diversify our offer and engage with a range of local employers and SMEs.
Careers is entering an exciting phase, working with partners across the university to expand and enhance our employability offer. With impressive graduate outcomes and a strong focus on employability, this is a great opportunity to further develop our work experience and internship portfolio, adding value to the student experience and preparing students for future success.
About you
This role will appeal to self-starters and creative thinkers who enjoy communicating with a range of stakeholders on a number of tasks. An eye for detail is also important when dealing with recruitment documents. This is a busy and varied role, with a complex workload, and you will need to be a confident and assured communicator, able to work flexibly and within a fluid environment. Diplomacy, intercultural sensitivity, and resilience are key, developing strong and mutually beneficial relationships, both within and beyond the University.
The nature of the role and sector will require you to be agile and adaptable, comfortable with identifying new initiatives and responding to new directions of travel. The nature of internships is evolving and changing, and whilst there is an excellent model to build on, this role would suit a creative thinker who can identify opportunities to develop and broaden the offer.
Teamwork is important but you must be confident to work individually using problem-solving, initiative and judgement. Excellent communication skills are essential - and knowing what is most suitable in terms of stakeholders and situations. Tact, diplomacy and intercultural awareness are key, and confidence with data and systems is integral.
